PostGenomic Faculty Hiring Initiative
In FY01, the campus received recurring funding from the State of Illinois for a PostGenomic Faculty Hiring Initiative. Funds were awarded through a campus-wide solicitation conducted by the Provost and the Vice Chancellor for Research to hire faculty in the following programmatic themes.
- Microreactors, Microsensors and Microimaging Technologies for the Post Genomic Era
- Genome-based Enhancement of Plant Functional Traits
- Program in Mammalian Developmental Biolog
- Proteomics: Molecular Function in Biology
- Macromolecular Assemblies and Machines as Determinants of Cell Function
In addition the recurring salary funds, nonrecurring support for startup and renovations were provided in campus funds. These commitments were matched by college and department funds, to be provided incrementally over the next few years.
The level of investment provided by the Sate, Campus, Colleges and Departments demonstrate the extraordinary commitment to the success of the campus biotechnology initiative.
